Hmm, My favourite thing to do...

Job-hunting... NOT!!
Ever since I finished uni almost a month ago, I have been searching for a job. I wanted a cooler job than my previous jobs: McDonalds (been there, done that) and babysitting, so I was looking through Seek and Student Job Search because they seem to have the better-ish jobs than the usual fast food restaurants. I had applyed for many and many jobs and were interested in some of them but unfortunatly did not end up the best candidate for any of them.

I guess the point of this post, apart from stating how annoying job-hunting is, is to inform you all that I GOT A JOB!! :D
I now am employed by New Zealand post for a month, starting in a week. I look forward to earning some money; and considering this job has quite good pay, I should be getting quite a bit of it (hopefully).

I've noticed (Im sure many of you have too) the lack of blog posts on my blog, Its just that I have nothing to write!! so I've starting writting about anything thats happening with me atm. Hope I don't bore you to death ;)

How little we actually are..

Ive been watching this new TV programme called South Pacific. It is a great show about the Pacific Ocean (did you know the Pacific Ocean takes up almost one third of the world??) and the inhabitants that live around or in it. It has great shots of the fish and things underwater and awesome views of volcanoes, islands and the vast empty ocean. It is absolutley amazing and I am awestruck whenever I watch it.

It is on every sunday (at 5pm on channel one if anyone wants to watch it) and since watching last nights episode, I have been thinking how insignificant out little island of a country is in comparison to the huge blue ocean we are surrounded with. Just try to imagine how little we as people are compared to New Zealand, NZ compared to the Pacific ocean, the ocean compared to the earth, the earth compared to the sun and so forth.

Just a thought :)

The light at the end of the tunnel

I have just finished my second year of university last week. After some intense weeks full of assignments and classes, I finally finished and handed in my last assignment yesterday morning with a sigh of relief. With only one more year left of my degree, I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. YAY!!

Now just looking forward to working full time for the next 4 months and earning myself some money! :D

The new 'in' thing

I was having a conversation with my sister, Alyssa Evans, today about how many people are married or soon to be married. She told me that while she was recently in the states, she saw 13 wedding parties within a 3 hour period! That's insane! I also read a conversation between Alyssa and Natalie Oldfield on facebook about how a diamond ring on your left hand is what is essential to be fashionable this year.

So this post is dedicated to all those friends of mine that are married or engaged:
Lavinia and Patrick Taitoko Emily and Israel Williams

And of course: Sarah Fallen and Andrew Read who just recently got engaged, Congratulations!

Summer Holiday... In June.

On June 13th I went on a cruise with my Mum, Aunty and sister.

I'll just give the shortened version otherwise it'll be WAY too long. We boarded Pacific Sun, the ship, and explored what would be our house for the next 12 days.

This is our ship (the giant one with the big 'P&O' on the front).

The next two days we were on sea so we passed the time by playing games, eating, reading, sunbathing and socialising. Our first stop was at suva, Fiji. We had nothing planned for this stop apart from shopping so we set on our way checking out all the markets and tourist shops. The Fijian men (and occasionally women) we really intimidating, right up in your face trying to sell you things from their shops.

The next day we arrived on the other side of Fiji at port Denarau but instead of going to the island, we hopped on a small boat and got taken to a little mini island called South Sea Island. It was beautiful with clear blue waters and white sand beaches and so small, it only took us 5 minutes to walk around the whole thing. We had a BBQ lunch provided and spent the rest of our time snorkelling before heading back to the ship.

We had another day at sea then arrived at Vila, Vanuatu. We had previously planned and payed to go scuba-diving here. We had a van waiting for us as we came off the ship and they drove us to our destination. We got geared up with tanks, masks, flippers and instructions and dove on our way. It was awesome and a really great experience. We saw heaps of fish but was unable to take our cameras so couldnt get any photos underwater.

Mystery Island was next on our agenda and was probably my favourite out of all the Islands. We spent most of the day snorkelling, after getting used to it at South Sea Island. The weather was better which made it easier for us and we were able to take some awesome photos.

Mystery Island is a small Island to the south of Vanuatu. It is about a kilometre long and less than half a kilometre wide. No one lives there but people from neighbouring islands travel over to sell their stuff in stalls for visitors such as us. We had heaps of fun, took lots of photos, Shelly got a massage and Caylah and I got our hair done.

That night, we set out to Norfolk Island where we would arrive in 2 days time which would leave us with another day at sea. We were looking forward to getting to our last Island. We were kind of ready to get home by then and sick of the ship, we thought it would be good to get some nice junkfood like McDonalds and check our Facebooks on Norfolk Island. Unfortunatly, when we arrived and had put our anchors down, the Captain informed us that the weather was making it too dangerous to be tendered (taken by a small boat) to the Island. The captain decided that instead of goig to the Island, we would just go around, I didnt see the point in this and would have much rather head home a day early but I had no say in it so we put up with the bad news and played games for the rest of the day. We had one more day on the ship before arriving in Auckland.

Wow, This was much longer than I intended.

Things I liked:
*The Staff - They had our rooms cleaned twice a day and served us food (which is always good :D)
*Visiting other countries - I loved seeing all these new places even though it wasnt as sunny as I would have liked.
*The pictures - I love taking photos and the ship and
Islands gave me some new backdrops and things to
take photos of.

Things I didn't like:
*The Staff - Most of them were not very cheerful and didnt particularly make us feel welcome (Yes, I know this is on both lists).
*The food - Although it was nice food, they didnt have variety and it didnt really change from day to day.
*The cabin - We had 2 bunk beds in our little room but there wasnt enough height in between each bed and the roof for us to sit. Apart from the one chair and the beds that we had tobend our necks to sit on, there was nowhere to sit.

Me, Myself and I!! (The most important thing :P)

Ok, I thought I should start this off with a little about myself.

I am one of four children. My dad lives in Australia, my mum lives here in Hamilton with my twin sister and little brother, my older sister lives in Wellington and I live with my Aunty and her kids in Hamilton.

I have recently found out that alot of people I know have blogs. I read a couple of them and loved them, loved the concept of blogs so I decided to make my own. It took a while for me to actually write my first post as I didnt know what to write about. Now just a warning: Im not very good at writing so its not going to be very flash.

I love photography so when I get into it more this blog may become more of a photography blog. with more photos than writing.

Feel free to become a follower, leave comments or share me with your friends :D
